Kaleidoscope Village News
(updated 4/13/08)
 In-town members celebrate site-plan approval.
It’s a GO ! ! !
As of March 18, 2008, Central Austin Cohousing has site plan approval (which includes zoning and subdivision) for our Kaleidoscope Village cohousing community. And as a special bonus, as of April 4th we also have building approval!
It’s been a very long time. Our bunch of babies that were born around when the site plan was first submitted are already starting to walk. But thanks to the persistence and tenacity of our member-developers, KV is also about to start moving. We had a first groundbreaking to enjoy the property one last time before the bulldozers move in to begin the drainage infrastructure. (We’ll have a big-time groundbreaking ceremony when it is time to pour the foundations for the buildings.)
What Happens Next?
Twenty-six of our thirty-seven units are reserved. The final units will not be made available for reservation for several more months, but we are in the process of finalizing our process for bringing in new members. Prospective buyers will be encouraged to go through an orientation process to help them make an informed decision about whether they’re a good fit for cohousing. The developers will only accept offers from those who have gone through orientation.
Waiting List
We will soon be sending out an explanation of the new-member process to all those on our waiting lists.
If you wish to be on the waiting list, please contact us at CentralAustinCohousing@OneBox.com or leave a voice message at 866-752-7358: please leave your name, contact information, what size unit you're interested in (1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-bedroom), and whether you believe you qualify for SMART Housing (http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/ahfc/smart.htm)
